Canvas + Coif is committed to working with people from all walks of life, is a fully inclusive business, celebrates all races, genders, sexualities, religions, ages, and body types.
I started Canvas and Coif because I kept meeting the same bride. She was not looking for a dramatic transformation. She wanted to look like herself, elevated -the version of her that exists when everything is working and the lighting is perfect. She had strong opinions, excellent taste, and almost no patience for vendors who made her feel like she was asking too much.
She was not asking too much. She was asking for what she deserved.
When I built this team, I made one decision that shaped everything else: we would operate like the premium vendors our clients were already used to working with. That meant detailed planning documentation, proactive communication, airtight timelines, and a level of coordination that made us an asset to every wedding.
The beauty was never going to be the question. The question was whether the team around it could be trusted to execute at the same level as the rest of the wedding.
Canvas and Coif is the answer to that question. We are here for the bride who has done the work, made the investment, and is not interested in settling in a single category especially the one that shows up in every photograph.
How the story began
Shani Gailbreath
Two of the Canvas | coif artists, Nisha and Paige, are content creators outside of their beauty careers - so they understand better than most what makes something look extraordinary on camera, not just in person. Both Paige and Aviana were 2025 brides! And in 2026, artist Alex Stamper is walking down the aisle herself. There is something to be said for a beauty team that includes someone who is actively planning her own wedding - she is not guessing at what brides need on a wedding morning. She already knows.
Fun Fact 03 - The "They're Real People" One
Between them, the Canvas | coif artists speak English, French, and Spanish fluently -- lead artist Anais was born and raised in France, and Cristina brings both her Peruvian roots and impeccable precision to every wedding she touches. The team collectively has a genuine obsession with travel, food, and live music, which means they are equally at home executing a destination wedding in coastal Europe as they are working a black-tie reception in Nashville. The passport stamps vary. The standard does not.
Fun fact 02 - THE GLOBAL ONE
Canvas | coif lead artist Anais Shiba and founder Shani Gailbreath have been working weddings together since 2015 -- which means their working relationship predates the company itself. When Canvas | coif launched in 2018, Anais was the first artist to join the team, and she has never left. That kind of history does not happen by accident. Every artist who has joined Canvas | coif has stayed, most working exclusively within the team, because the culture here is one worth showing up for.
